The Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly known as Section 8) is a program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that helps pay for rental housing for low-income families, older adults, or people with a disability in the United States. Participants in this program can find their own home and choose between single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments. They can also use housing choice vouchers to pay all or part of the rent.
